SAT & ACT Information 20-21
As you start your college application process, we are receiving many questions about taking the SAT and ACT. Due to COVID-19 and testing site closures, many colleges have decided to be test-optional for admission purposes. We encourage you to check each college’s testing policy for admissions.
The CSU will temporarily suspend the use of ACT/SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility for all CSU campuses for the 2021-2022 academic year.
UC will be "test-optional" for fall 2021 and fall 2022. Freshman applicants are not required to submit SAT/ACT test scores. UC will no longer collect SAT Essay or ACT Writing test scores even if you choose to submit general test scores as part of your admissions application.
Search here to find out if your SAT test center will be closed on an upcoming test date and if it's offering a makeup test. Remember, test centers may close or make changes on short notice, including on test day, and they may even close for the scheduled makeup date. Test center data is updated every three hours—be sure to search any closings the night before and morning of your scheduled test.
Please be aware that ACT test centers may be experiencing closures or reduced capacity due to COVID-19 limitations. For current information about your test center, go to test center cancellations for updates. Now through your test day, ACT will be sending email updates Monday through Friday by 6:00 p.m. CT to notify you if there has been a change in your registration. Please know that changes in COVID-19 may affect your ability to test on your scheduled test day.
Please feel free to email our staff if you have further questions.
