Hello and Welcome to Ms. Mateo's Classroom!
I am the new English Special Ed/Resource Teacher here at Gabrielino High School. I will be servicing students in grades 9-12th and also teaching a Resource Class as well. I am very excited and looking forward to working with students, families and staff. I have been in education for over 10 years and I have worked with children from preschool, elementary, middle school, college and now high school.
Respect, Responsibility and Set Future Goals
I received my BA in Communicative Disorders from Cal State Long Beach in 2002. After graduating, I worked as a Speech and Language Specialist for Long Beach Unified for approximately 7 1/2 years. During this time I was going to school full time and received my MS in Child Development from the University of La Verne in 2008. I became employed by Mount San Antonio College as an adjunct professor in 2011 and have been there ever since.
I have also worked as a preschool teacher for 5 years and continued my education at the University of La Verne to receive my Mild/Moderate Special Education Credential. I have worked with Mild/Moderate Elementary students from grades K-6 and hope to continue supporting my students here at Gabrielino as well.
I look forward to meeting all of you! Please do not hesitate to come by or contact me at any time.
Have a great school year!
