Art 1 Introduction to Art

Art at Gabrielino High School begins with Art 1 Introduction to Art.

This foundation course covers the basics of the visual arts. Students become familiar with the 7 elements of art and the 7 principles of design. We learn about the California State Standards for the Visual Arts and how to incorporate these standards into our art projects.

Students participate in individual and group projects, art research, presentations, and class wall critiques. The students gain experience in creative problem-solving, and critical thinking while exercising their imaginations. They practice speaking about their work and learn how to defend their creative choices.
